SERVETTE FCCF – OLYMPIQUE DE MARSEILLE 3-1 (1-1)

The Servettiennes are full of confidence after beating OM in a friendly match this Wednesday. Against one of the best teams in French D2, José Barcala’s players played a full match. Special mention for Imène El Ghazouani.

Servette FCCF played quite a match this afternoon at the Stade des Trois-Chênes. Against Olympique de Marseille, José Barcala’s players scored three goals to win 3-1. It was the visitors who opened the hostilities while the Genevans set the pace for the match. Couasnon’s shot from the edge of the area surprised Michael Bottega (13th). The Servettiennes did not panic and continued to implement their game plan. They kept possession of the ball and were dangerous in front of the opposing nets. The solution came from the foot of Imène El Ghazouani. The Geneva number 10 lit up the match with her class and technique and she showed it once again in this action. She was able to eliminate the opposing defender and then score with a nice shot from the outside of her foot (33rd). She had other chances in the match but she was impressive with her vision of the game and her winning duels.

In the second half, the SFCCF increased the pace and it hit the mark twice. First thanks to Paloma Lázaro (49th). The Spanish striker was able to take advantage of the work of Cassandra Khoronen to win her duel against the French goalkeeper. Paloma Lázaro once again found herself on the third goal, but this time in the role of passer. She perfectly launched Laura Tufo who did not need to be asked twice to shake the net once again.

This match was an opportunity to give playing time to several players from the academy. Thus, Sergeant-Huet, Morales, Morina and Fejzullahu (all born between 2006 and 2007) were able to play big minutes at the highest level. Quite a symbol for these young girls who are just reaching the gates of the first team.

The next match will be played again at the Stade des Trois-Chênes, this time in the Axa Women’s Super League. The Servettiennes host Young Boys Frauen for a first clash this season. The match starts at 6pm and the team is counting on these supporters to make some noise!
