SERVETTE WOMEN’S FOOTBALL CLUB
SERVETTE FCCF – FC SAINT-GALL: THE REMAKE OF THE FINAL
Tomorrow at 3 p.m., Genevoises and Saint-Galloises will meet in the quarter-finals of the Swiss Cup, 10 months after their last confrontation in this same competition.
After the championship, it’s now time for the Swiss Cup for our Servettians who find a special opponent: FC Saint-Gall. A real “remake” of last season’s final which the Servettians won with a score of 1-0 thanks to a goal from Natalia Padilla. From now on, the cards are redistributed again and the Saint-Galloises intend to take their revenge on Geneva soil.
However, nothing will be simple tomorrow at Fontenette. Even if the Brodeuses are opponents who have very often smiled on the Servettiiennes in the past, the latter have often had great difficulty securing victory. Especially since Saint-Gall remains in a Dantesque scenario in the Swiss Cup. In the previous round, the team led by Marisa Wunderlin took the scalp of FC Zürich at the end of a match full of twists and turns. Quickly trailing 3-0 afterwards, Saint-Gall showed resilience to win overtime and then penalties, notably with a goal in the 94th minute. Qualification was therefore achieved at the end of a rich penalty shootout. A scenario worthy of the greatest films.
Jose Barcala’s protégés are therefore warned. However, the Garnets will be able to take an example from the performance they performed against the St-Galloises last October. As a reminder, Servette won in style with a score of 4 to 1 against Saint-Gall.
