FC LUZERN – SERVETTE FCCF: MAINTAINING ITS CHAMPIONSHIP STREAK
Servette FCCF travels to Lucerne this Saturday as part of the 6th day of the AXA Women’s Super League. Winners of the last four league matches, the Servettiennes want to maintain this winning streak to keep their place at the top of the standings. Jose Barcala’s players are second, one point behind first place held by Zurich.
After the first leg of the Champions League play-off in Rome, Servette FCCF follows directly with a league match this Saturday in Lucerne. Although the Servettiennes lost to AS Roma, they remain on four consecutive league wins and a second place in the standings, one point behind Zurich.
FC Lucerne started their season with four defeats in a row but the Swiss-Germans were able to get back on track by winning 1-0 on the pitch in St. Gallen. This same pitch where the Genevans had lost their first match of the season. With 3 points in 5 matches, the Lucernoises are in 8th place, a rank they hope to leave quickly by climbing the hierarchy. With 6 goals scored for 13 taken, the dynamic is far from the 9 to 1 ratio of Servette FCCF. This match will be interesting for Jose Barcala’s players who will have to manage the team’s energy as it plays one match after another, while maintaining good intensity in the game to give themselves the best possible chance of winning the three points. Indeed, the Servettiennes play five matches in two weeks with European matches. It’s a very busy schedule as they would need to be in peak form next Thursday for the return match of the Champions League play-off against AS Roma while ensuring a victory against Lucerne this Saturday. A real headache for the staff! The confrontation between FC Lucerne and Servette FCCF will be played this Saturday at 8 p.m., at the Sportanlage Hubelmatt. The match is broadcast live on the AXA Women’s Super League website.
