BSC YB FRAUEN – FCCF SERVETTE: DON’T GIVE IN TO EMOTIONS

Servette FCCF must prepare for an intense semi-final against YB. The Bernese will be keen to take revenge after the defeat in the Swiss Cup final. It’s up to Servettians not to give in to emotions and to do what they do best: play football. The first leg takes place at Stadion Wankdorf at 2 p.m.

After passing FC Aarau Frauen in the quarter-finals, not without difficulty, the Servettians face a completely different challenge. Indeed, YB is a team that has given the SFCCF a lot of difficulty this season. The two teams parted twice in a draw (1-1 then 2-2) before meeting again in the final of the Swiss Cup (narrow 3-2 victory for the Genevans).

The Bernese team is one of the teams that have developed the most in women’s football in recent seasons and this can be seen in the results. This season, YB is one of the teams fighting for the title after reaching the Cup final. Servette FCCF will have to be wary of the effectiveness of the opposing attackers. YB have three players capable of making a difference in front of goals: Courtney Strode (15 goals in the league), Stéphanie Waeber (11 goals) and Naomi Luyet (9 goals). The Geneva defense has been warned, it will be necessary to be concentrated during the 90 minutes of play.

But the Servettians have everything they need to meet this challenge. They finished at the top of the regular championship for the third year in a row and have just won the Swiss Cup for the second time in a row. The playing philosophy of coach José Barcala has brought Servette FCCF to a new dimension. When the players are 100% focused, nothing seems to disturb them. It is in this state of mind that the Garnets will have to finish the season. The goal is the title, and to get there, you will have to concentrate at each meeting.

It begins with a trip to Bern this Sunday, kicking off at 2 p.m. Bernese and Genevoises will then meet for Act II at the Fontenette on Sunday May 19 at 4 p.m. on the Fontenette side.
