SERVETTE FCCF – FC ZÜRICH: A MATCH FOR HISTORY!
The final outcome of this 2023-2024 season is very close: the title match between Servette FCCF and FC Zürich will be played this Sunday, at 3:15 p.m., at the Stockhorn Arena (Thun). The Servettians will need the support of an entire people to come back with this title which has eluded them for two years.
Servette FCCF against FC Zürich in the playoff final: it has become a classic. Since the introduction of the formula with the final series three seasons ago, the Servettians and the Zurichoises have each time found themselves at this stage of the competition. This is therefore the third time in as many possibilities that the two teams will fight for the title of Swiss Champions. If, in previous years, the Genevans finished in first place in the ranking at the end of the regular season, it was the German Swiss who won the final and therefore the national title. A heartbreak for Servette FCCF who paid the price for this Playoff formula.
José Barcala’s players will have to remember the frustration experienced in recent years to find the extra motivation that will allow them to finally triumph in the Playoffs. They will also have to build on what they have undertaken in this time: three regular season firsts, two Swiss Cups and an ever more sought-after level of play. We have the feeling that when the Servettians play their game this season, nothing, or almost nothing, can worry them. It is in this summer of spirit that they will have to present themselves in Thun against FC Zürich. Give it your all, so as not to regret anything. And the supporters will also have to be there to encourage them!
match. The Servettiiennes beat the Zurichoises 3-0 on November 18, 2023 but lost to the same opponent for the last match of the regular season at the Stade de Genève (0-3). In the Playoffs, Servette FCCF defeated Aarau and YB to reach the final. The Zurichoises beat Lucerne then Basel to defend their title. It is therefore a thrilling final which promises to be between the two best women’s football teams in Switzerland.
