SERVETTE WOMEN’S FOOTBALL CLUB
GC FRAUEN – SERVETTE FCCF 1-2 (0-2)
In Niederhasli, the Servettians dominated GC with a score of 2 to 1 thanks to goals from Mendes and Marchão.
Servette won by the smallest of margins thanks in particular to an excellent first half. An indirect free kick into the area will sow discord in the opposing 16 meters. Marchão, after seeing his shot deflected by the wall, will find Monica Mendes who will only have to push the leather into the back of the net. The Garnets will double the score half an hour later through Joana Marchão with a sublime free kick which hits the bar before making the Garnets happy. She had already achieved a similar feat with the Portuguese selection during this last international break.
In the second half, the Sauterelles will prove more dangerous. The latter missed a penalty before reducing the score on a lightning counter-attack. Less omnipresent in the offensive phase, the Servettians turned their backs in the second period to snatch three important points in Zurich.
The Servettians’ next match will take place on Saturday March 9 at 5 p.m. in Berne against YB, currently 4th in the championship standings. A long month of March ahead where the Garnets will need support throughout!
