FC BASEL – SERVETTE FCCF 2-2 (1-0)
It was in the heart of Basel, at the Leichtahletikstadion, that Geneva and Basel fought for the three points. Basel against Servette, the Genevans against their runner-up. The Grenat were dominated during the first minutes of play and it was in the 13th minute that the Basel women opened the scoring. An end to the first half with many tries from both teams then took place, but the locals returned to the locker room with the advantage.
At the opening of the second half in the 49th minute, Imane Saoud opened the scoring with a penalty conceded by the Basel team, enough to boost the team which will offer some very good actions and find the bottom again nets in the 63rd minute. After a splendid overflow Thérèse Simonsson serves Sandrine Mauron to give the Genevans the advantage. Despite this great comeback, the Servetiennes will crack in the last seconds of the match on a last Leonie Sophie Köster action. Despite this excellent 2nd half, Jose Barcala’s players may have some regrets.
By conceding this equalizer, the Servettians let 1st place slip away from FC Zürich, winner 3-0 on the pitch of FC Lucerne. Now it’s time for the international break for our Grenat who will be able to take a breather before returning to FC Frauenteam Thun Berner Oberland at La Fontenette on Saturday, November 4.
