SERVETTE WOMEN’S FOOTBALL CLUB
SERVETTE FCCF – FC ZÜRICH FRAUEN 1-1 (1-1)
After a historic series of ten wins in ten games, the Servettiennes conceded their first points of the season after being held in check by FCZ with a score of 1 to 1.
The match at the top of this 11th day kept all its promises! Between opportunities and commitment, the 449 people present at La Fontenette were rewarded with a great afternoon of football.
The opportunities first. Garnet gets it first through the untenable Padilla and Nakkach. This just before Sandrine Mauron catapults a missile on the bar. Then the commitment too. The Servettiennes felt the physical presence of the Zurich women from the 1st to the last minute. Serrano and Saoud paid the price. Nevertheless, it is the Zurich women who will pay dearly for their commitment. On Imane Saud precisely. The Moroccan international obtained a dangerous but very wide free kick at the corner of the surface and the baseline on the right side. A “mini-corner” that Agata Filipa was responsible for sending into the opposing skylight. Unstoppable and splendid. La Fontenette applauds!
The Grenat then let the Zurich women take the game on their own. The latter are more threatening, especially in counter-attack. Paid initiatives since the Zurich women will come back to score through Höbinger in the 35th minute. The two teams will return to the locker room back to back.
After tea, Zürich will force Inês Pereira to show the full extent of her talent twice. First of all a tap on a corner then an exit in the feet of Fabienne Humm will prevent the defending champions from taking the advantage. It was then the turn of Eric Sévérac’s players to take the game on their own with in particular the entries of Maéva Clémaron and Coumba Sow who performed her first minutes in garnet! Nevertheless, neither Padilla nor Serrano will be able to deceive Friedli’s vigilance.
The Garnet can even tie some regrets like the two against one led by Bourma and Korhonen but the strike of the first city will pass beyond the Zurich cages. Coumba Sow’s attempt at the end of the game will not change anything and the two teams will leave with a draw 1 to 1.
The Garnets now have a week of international break and will host Grasshopper for the quarter-finals of the Swiss Cup on Sunday February 26.
